BLACK VICTORIANS
Black History Month celebrations in Stoke-on-Trent, this powerful living history showcase honours the remarkable life of Cyrus Hamilton. Cyrus Hamilton was an 18th-century African man who was brought to England and served as a trusted butler at Teddesley Hall in Staffordshire. Stepping directly into this rich local history, the participant beautifully embodies Hamilton's legacy through authentic period portraiture and living history re-enactment. This project highlights the deep-rooted presence of Black individuals in the British countryside, challenging narrow historical narratives and celebrating our shared heritage.
